OK out of the shout with all new stuff.
I got a real surprise this comp. None other then Chris Roller stopped by to see me. Chris use to be my boss for a number of years, a truly great person and it was great to see him.
So all new stuff after cooking the night wondering what was going to come out of the smokers, It was time. taste across the board was BORING, not my normal pow. it was melancholy at best. We did not have a great feeling for winning anything. But let me set this straight The Chicken was over cooked the ribs were under cooked the pork was ok but no taste and the brisket may have been a little over cooked just a smidgen.
we were 15th out of 58 38th in Chicken (overcooked) 22 in Ribs (undercooked) 2 in Pork
(YES) 15 in brisket. So 15th not to bad that is were I expect to be every time and to be fare the new stuff worked because yes I made errors but my numbers stayed the same so Richmond is next and I plan to keep the chicken, ribs and the pulled pork the same with a slight tweak to the sauce.
The brisket is going back the the original rub. so we will see how Richmond goes.
and for those that follow this Easton in Oct has been CANCELLED very very sad.

Comp 6 Bluemont Va BBQ Bash
Bluemount what a great place it was great views of the mountains. I had never seen Vineyard on the side of a hill like that before. We had great Company Bennie and Jackie, came by and brought there parents. Great people as I expected from meeting there Daughter. Jackie is a sweetie. Well BBQ
I had a little set back, maybe not thinking about what I was doing as much as I should have been.
My brother had to leave early Sat. morning he was having a little issue with numbness in his left hand so off to have it checked out. that for some reason made me a little lets say absent minded.
so the overall was 26 out of 40 teams we placed 30th in Chicken, 21 in Ribs, 27 in pork and 15 in Brisket. our score have been level for the year only winning calls at the second comp this year, I need to do something different, so watch out Bel Air
